Raag Chitra Paintings and Graphics
We strongly believe in the emotional power of Indian classical music. There is a strong correlation between raags and the emotions they express. Our in-house artists Sabitha Ramakrishnan, Vaishali Angal, Sagarika Ghosh, and Sujata Tilak have also experienced this. The educational videos on this website beautifully demonstrate this correlation using the Raag Chitra paintings by these artists. If you like any particular paintings, write to us and let them know.
The graphics on our website are by Lalima Srivastava and Ipsha Menon who bring a creative eye and artistic flair to the visuals that perfectly complement our website and elevate the overall user experience.
Western notation transcript
We believe that we have inherited this art form which has the capability to touch lives around the globe. Like Yoga, IndianClassicalMusic has the power to break language barriers and appeal to audiences around the world. To make this knowledge easier to consume by audiences that understand Western music, Igor Iwanek is making invaluable contributions in transcribing the music demonstrations in our educational videos into Western notation. You may find these accompanying some raag videos such as Ahir Bhairav and Bhairav.

Reference Textbooks
Music scholars for generations have done a tremendous service to this art form by documenting Indian classical music. Ancient scripts have lived for generations because from time to time scholars have researched, translated, and interpreted ancient texts and made them relevant for future generations to consume. We, at indianclassicalmusic.com have made the bold decision to pick up the baton and run with it. Our generation is equally gifted and with technology, has the capability to preserve this heritage. The information on this website heavily uses the following textbooks:
Raag Vigyan by Padmabhushan Pt. Vinayakraoji Patwardhan
Abhinav Geetanjali by Pt. Ramashraya Jha
Hindustani Sangeet Paddhati Kramik Pustak Maalika by Pt. Vishnunarayan Bhatkhande
